Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, focuses on important issues related to management and organizational processes in the field of medical tourism. This training program addresses ways to develop successful management strategies, optimize organizational processes and ensure international patient satisfaction. The course is designed for professionals who want to effectively manage medical tourism organizations and increase their competitive advantage in the sector. He was born in 1961 in Konya. In 1986, he graduated from Istanbul Medical Faculty. He completed his compulsory service as Deputy Provincial Health Director in Muş Province. In 1988, he took on duties related to immunization and combating infectious diseases in the Department of Communicable Diseases at the General Directorate of Primary Health Services within the Ministry of Health's Central Organization. In 1989, he was assigned to the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, where he served as Deputy Director until 1996, with a two-year interruption.
In 1994, he earned a Master’s degree in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and in 1996, he obtained a Ph.D. in Public Health from Istanbul University’s Institute of Health Sciences. In 1996, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor to the Department of Health Management at Marmara University's Faculty of Health Education. He earned the title of Associate Professor in Public Health in 1998 and became a Professor of Health Management in 2003. During his 14 years at Marmara University’s Faculty of Health Sciences, he served as the Head of the Department throughout his tenure, as Vice Dean for eight years, and as Acting Dean for one year.
In 2009, he was appointed as the founding dean of Istanbul University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. He served as the Head of the Health Management Department and Faculty Dean in the same faculty until 2014.
In 2014, he joined Biruni University as Vice Rector, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Head of the Department of Health Management, serving in these roles for two years.
Since 2016, he has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Director of the Institute of Health Sciences at Üsküdar University.
In 2018, he was appointed as the founding dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Üsküdar University, a position he continues to hold.
Within the Public Health discipline, his work focuses particularly on Health Management, Health Policies and Systems, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics. To date, he has taught 36 courses across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels at 13 different universities. He has published 43 articles in international indexed journals and approximately 200 national publications. He has also contributed as an editor and/or chapter author to 18 books.
